Family Holiday at Wildbach Camping
For three years now, we've been coming as a family every summer for a week to Wildbach Camping in Hellenthal. And every time, it feels a bit like coming home as soon as we arrive. The children know exactly where to run first, and we parents immediately notice how everyday life slowly falls away from us. We spend a lot of time outdoors, often just spontaneously. Sometimes a short hike, sometimes sitting by the stream for hours, collecting stones or building dams. Not every day is perfectly planned – and that's exactly what we love about it. The nature around the site gives the children an incredible amount of space to explore. But they love being on the site just as much. The kids club is firmly scheduled every year because friendships form quickly there. The carriage ride with site warden Robin is particularly memorable – the children still talk about it today. The nature workshops are also a big hit, and in between they do what feels like endless laps on the go-karts until they come back completely exhausted but happy. In the evenings we sit together, sometimes still with a bit of dirt on our shoes, and listen to the stories of the day. And as always, this one week passes far too quickly. At the latest on the drive home comes the question: 'Are we coming back next year?' By now, the answer is almost a given.

Wildbach Quest – Level Up for Sustainable Holidays
Lorenz and Clemens, two brothers and former business consultants, took over a campsite in the Eifel and started their very own adventure: With photovoltaics, heat pumps and wood from their own forest, they focus on sustainable energy and hot water. A wildflower meadow for insects grows by the stream – and the kiosk offers regional products. A portrait by GutesKlima.NRW.
